Abstract

The frequency response of a multiquantum well (MQW) distributed feedback (DFB) laser is measured by injecting and intensity-modulated TM polarized light. With low bias currents, the 3-dB bandwidth of the MQW DFB laser’s frequency response is anomalously enhanced by injection of intensity-modulated TM polarized light. The maximum 3-dB bandwidth, 16 GHz, is observed when the normalized bias current (I/Ith - 1) is 1.
