Abstract

The effectiveness of tribo-coated Ag film on the frictional vibration control of ball bearing was studied. The results of ultrasonic cleaning with acetone and ethanol for 60 min, heating in a furnace for 20 min, and pre-heating of the ball bearing formed smooth and uniform tribo-coated Ag film. Compared with conventional ion-plating films, lower frictional vibration was obtained by the ball bearing lubricated with the obtained smooth and uniform tribo-coated Ag film. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the Proceedings of World Tribology Conference (Kyoto, Japan 9/6-11/2009).
