Abstract

In order to understand the behavior and removing method of Al 2O3 and TiOn in liquid steel, the investigation of interfacial properties is very important. The contact angles of pure Fe, Al-killed steel and Ti-killed steel in contact with Al2O3 and MgO substrates were measured by the sessile drop technique. The measurements were conducted at various oxygen potentials at 1 873 K. The studies were focused on other factors affecting, interfacial properties. The result shows that the contact angle is a function of droplet size and the contact angles increase with increasing droplet size. In this area, the line energy which is an important factor was proposed for the first time.
