Abstract

GIS based Geosphere Environmental Informatic Universal System ‘GENIUS’ has been developed, which includes topographical, geological, geochemical and other geosphere environmental digital maps covering the entire area of Japan. This system also contains data of chemical analysis of rocks, soils, river-bed sediments, river water and ground water. To realize hydrological properties of distributions of heavy metals in watershed, the coefficient between heavy metal concentrations and geology was calculated by using ‘GENIUS’ database and analytical tool in GIS. ‘GENIUS’ is a first database for evaluating geosphere environment in nationwide of Japan, and it is powerful tool for environmental assessment of natural and artificial pollutions of land soil and river.
