Abstract

Alkali-earth ion (Ba2+) substituted La3Ta 0.5Ga5.5O14 (LTG) crystals with a chemical formula of La3-xBaxTa0.5+x/2Ga 5.5-x/2O14 (LBTG), suitable for piezoelectric applications, were grown by the micro-pulling-down (μ-PD ) and Czochralski technique. Powder X-ray diffraction analysis had been shown that Ba 2+ could be substituted for La3+ up to x=0.2 in LTG crystals. A structure analysis revealed that Ba atoms are mainly distributed in decahedral sites occupied by La atoms. Grown LBTG crystals showed higher value of d14 and K12 than LTG.
