Abstract

Optical absorption spectra have been investigated in various substances under magnetic fields up to 30 T using hybrid magnets at Tohoku University. Optical fiber systems are employed for distant light transmission. The spectra are measured incorporating both a wavelength-scanning type monochromator and an optical multichannel analyzer based on a Si-diode array. The pressure dependence of luminescence spectra has also been measured at 77 K in magnetic fields up to 14 T using a resistive magnet with a large bore.
