High-order implicit discontinuous galerkin scheme for unsteady turbulent flows

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

A new implicit time integration scheme for unsteady turbulent flow computations with high-order discontinuous Galerkin (DG) methods is proposed. In the newly proposed implicit scheme, algebraic equations are directly and independently solved without sweeps to exploit a compactness of the DG methods. On computations of an inviscid Taylor-Green vortex problem, the sweep-free implicit gives well agreed time evolution with an explicit time integration and conventional global implicit time integration scheme, a LU-SGS scheme. Additionally, the estimated computational cost of the sweep-free implicit scheme is lower than of the LU-SGS scheme.
