Abstract

A report on the high-temperature mechanical properties of Ir-Al alloys was presented. The microstructure, the compression strength and the creep properties at 1773 of the Ir-Al alloys with an fcc and B2 two-phase structure were investigated. Small amounts of ductilizing elements were added to brittle alloys to improve ductility. The compression strength at 1773 K was found to decrease with increase in aluminium concentration.
