Hypernuclear spectroscopy with hadron beams - From KEK, BNL to J-PARC

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contribution

Abstract

Great progress has been made in spectroscopic studies on Λ hypernuclei with pion and kaon beams at KEK and BNL. High precision γ spectroscopy with the germanium detector array, Hyperball, has revealed precise level schemes of most of p-shell hypernuclei and the strengths of the spin-dependent ΛN interactions have been determined. The neutron-rich hypernucleus Λ10Li has been recently observed by the (π-,K+) reaction. Planned experiments at J-PARC are also described.
