Abstract
Three kinds of crown ethers were immobilized in chitosan membrane to study the permeability for picric acid and its alkali metal salts. Chitosan membrane without crown ethers was found to have higher permeability for alkali metal picrates than for picric acid. On the contrary, the permeability of chitosan membrane for alkali metal picrates indicated a tendency of suppression by increase in the immobilized amount of crown ethers. This effect is ascribable to the complex formation of the crown ethers with alkali metal picrates in the membrane.
