Abstract

Many load balancing algorithms have been proposed for structured Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks. However, it is difficult for existing structured P2P networks to achieve sufficient load balancing and to apply to network services. We propose a new structured P2P network called Well-distribution Algorithm for an Overlay Network (Waon), in which each node sufficiently achieves autonomous dynamic load balancing. Waon's simple load balancing algorithm enables us to apply Waon to versatile network services. We implemented Waon and evaluated the load balancing algorithm on real network environments. In addition, we also developed the Waon framework to implement network services based on Waon.
