Implementation of a Behavioral Recognition Sensor for Understanding Interactive Communication Situation of the Elderly

Abstract

Studies in the field of epidemiology have shown that interactive communication with others is associated with a healthy life expectancy in the elderly population. However, for the most part, questionnaire surveys have been used as a method for analyzing communication situations, which lacks completeness and accuracy. In this study, we develop a behavioral recognition sensor to understand the state of interactive communication of the elderly quantitatively. This paper describes the implementation of a sensor that is capable of collecting the speech status.
