Abstract

Hypersonic flows associated with chemical and thermal nonequilibrium flows must be calculated using not only ordinary mass, momentum, and energy conservation equations based on Navier-Stokes equations but also mass equations of chemical species related to chemical reactions. In this paper, an implicit-explicit flux vector splitting scheme that can be used in both explicit and implicit calculations is proposed and applied to a hypersonic thermochemical nonequilibrium flow problem. The numerical algorithm of the splitting scheme is explained, and some calculated results are shown.
