Abstract

MgB2/Fe tapes were prepared by in situ powder-in-tube process with acetone doping. The magnetic field was applied parallel and perpendicular to the tape surface and the effects of acetone doping on the Jc anisotropy were studied. It is found that the acetone doping not only improved Jc in high fields, but also decreased the anisotropy ratios Γ =Jc||/Jc. In comparison to pure samples, the anisotropy ratios Γ for ace-tone-doped samples was decreased to 1.5 from 3.9 at 4.2 K and 10 T. The decreases of anisotropy ratios Γ for acetone-doped tapes may be attributed to the small MgB2 grain sizes and the disorder induced by C substitution of B site.
