Abstract

A study was conducted to clarify the influence of the fat component on the high-frequency acoustic properties, and to determine a method of tissue preparation for acoustic microscopy. Two types of fat-containing renal cancer, and fat-free renal oncocytoma were considered. A scanning acoustic microscope (SAM) operating in the frequency range of 100 to 200 MHz was employed to display the two-dimensional distribution of attenuation constant and sound speed.
