Abstract

It is found that an increase in the hydrostatic chamber pressure (P) during the casting process suppresses the glass forming ability (GFA) of the Zr 65Al7.5Ni10Cu17.5 alloy, on the contrary, it enhances the GFA of the Zr65Al7.5Ni 10Pd17.5 alloy. This opposite dependence of the GFA on P in these alloys may be because the volume increases or decreases by the primary crystallization.
