Abstract

In order to investigate the effect of the intergrowth Bi2223 phase on the transport properties of Bi2212 whiskers, we performed the electrical field vs. current density (E-J) measurements for Bi2212 whiskers at various temperatures and magnetic fields. Both of the irreversibility field Birr and the critical current density Jc increase with the increase of the intergrowth Bi2223 content. Although the quantitative ratio of intergrowth Bi2223 is unknown, we found the possibility of the Jc improvement of Bi2212 due to the intergrowth Bi2223 phase from a detailed analysis of the E-J properties.
