Abstract
The mobility and the orientation of the hydrocarbon chain in the Langmuir-Blodgett films of merocyanine dye-arachidic acid-n-octadecane ternary system was studied using infrared spectroscopy. The bandwidths of CD 2 antisymmetric and CD2 symmetric stretching modes remain unchanged, indicating the constant mobility of the deuterated hydrocarbon chain C20-d. It found that the change in orientation was associated with the decrease in the mobility of the MS hydrocarbon chain.
