Abstract
In a simulation of perpendicular recording media, the exchange coupling between adjacent cells was broken at random to provide domain wall pinning sites. The introduction of such pinning sites can improve the signal/noise ratio of strongly exchange coupled media by reducing the susceptibility of the media to stray fields and thus reducing unwanted erasure of recorded data,.
