Abstract
Acute coronary occlusions often occur during PTCA procedure at weak lesions such as ones with dissection. In order to solve this problem, we have developed a novel way of the Intracoronary Local Adhesive Delivery Technique. It is the technique of infusing an antithrombotic and fast-hardening adhesive onto the weak vessel wall to strength it by a porous PTCA balloon catheter for drug delivery. In several acute animal examinations using both side femoral arteries of adult goats, we succeeded in forming the excellent firm cylinder of the adhesive intravascularly at the site of antioplasty. Although we need some improvements of the adhesive and catheter, these results have suggested the capability of this technique as a new approach for PTCA.
