Abstract

We prepared nanoparticles of Eu3+-doped polyimide (6FDA-6F, BPDA-PDA, 10FEDA-4FMPD) by reprecipitation method. Polyimide of 6FDA-6F showed unique luminescence properties. It was observed that luminescence intensity assigned to Eu3+ increased with increase in UV-irradiation time. In contrast, the intensity decreased with elevation of heat-treatment temperature. These results agreed with that of Eu3+-doped 6FDA-ODA polyimide. However, Eu3+-doped 10FEDA-4FMPD and BPDA-PDA polyimide did not show the unique luminescence properties. It is considered that for the energy transfer from polyimide to Eu3+, large energy band gap in polyimide needs.
