Abstract

We conducted large eddy simulation of wake vortices in ground effect with realistic terrain around an airport focusing on the airport specific behavior of wake vortices. We considered here a landing aircraft at Tokyo/Haneda Airport in Japan. We developed a framework for a distributed parallel computer that enables dynamic data management for load balancing and flow adaptive mesh refinement for wake vortex. The impact of a crosswind over airport buildings was only qualitatively evaluated so far by visualized images.
