Abstract
Rapidly solidified Fe-29.6 at% Pd alloy foil shows a stronger magnetic anisotropy and larger magnetostriction, 6.5 × 10-4. This phenomenon is caused by the rearrangements of activated martensitic twin variants. The inverse phase transformation temperatures obtained from X-ray diffraction and magnetization vs. temperature curve are 293-333K and 400-440K, respectively. The origin of the discrepancy is unclear.
