Abstract

Co-doping effects for the fluorescence and lasing spectrum of Nd3+-doped silica fibers have been studied. Alternating the concentration ratio between Nd3+ and P atoms, the peak lasing wavelength can be changed from 1.064 µm to 1.092 µm. A fiber laser configuration which can increase the laser tuning range up to 93 nm at 4F3/2-4I11/2 transition is proposed.
