Abstract

The liquid-crystalline layered assemblies consisting of an ionic liquid and hydroxyl-functional mesogenic molecules, which form nano-level phase segregated structures, were discussed. The mesogenic compounds having hydroxyl groups at the extremity of the alkyl chains were designed and synthesized. The result showed anisotropic ion conduction of the layered ionic liquids for the oriented samples in the electrodes.
