Abstract

A low-chirp electroabsorption modulator integrated distributed feedback laser has been developed as a compact, low-power-consuming light source for optical fiber transmission systems. It enables 10-Gbit/s long-haul single-mode optical fiber transmission of up to 140 km with bit-error-free performance. It has long-term stability with lifetime of more than 10 years.
