Abstract

A conductor-embedded-type transformer using a fine brained Mn-Zn ferrite was fabricated. The developed transformer shows a higher efficiency and a more uniform distribution of the surface temperature rise than the conventional EI-core type transformer which has the same volume as the developed transformer. The high efficiency is contributed to using the fine grained Mn-Zn ferrite with low core losses at 1 MHz and also adopting the conductor-embedded-type structure, which serves the uniform flux density in the core and current density in the conductor.
