Abstract
A new processing method for solidifying calcium carbonate (CaCO3) powder has been developed using hydrothermal hot-pressing technique. The solidification of calcium carbonate was achieved via vaterite/aragonite-calcite wet transformation under the conditions of the low temperature range of 50≈175°C within short period of below 4.0 h. The tensile strength of the solidified CaCO3 body based on aragonite reached approximately 8.0 MPa. Moreover, the tensile strength of the body could be enhanced by the addition of Chitosan.
