Abstract
Samples of blue-green light-emitting BaZrSi3O9:Eu were successfully synthesized by using a novel aqueous solution method using propylene glycol-modified silane (PGMS). Luminescence properties of the phosphor were studied as a function of synthesis composition and firing methods. The synthesized Ba0.97ZrSi3O9:0.03 Eu+0.3SiO2 phosphor showed high emission intensity (more than 250% of the reference, YAG:Ce P46 (Kasei Optonix)) and exhibited a flat excitation band ranging from 290 nm to 420 nm, suggesting that it can work when combined with commercial near-UV LEDs.
