Abstract
Investigations of the luminescence properties of LiSr2Y1-xEuxO4, LiSr2Y1-xTbxO4 and LiSr2Y1-xTmxO4 (0≤x≤1) at room temperature are reported. These samples were synthesized by a solid state reaction. The excitation spectra of Tb3+ emission in LiSr2Y1-xTbxO4 (0≤x≤1) consist of broad bands corresponding to a transition between the 4f8 and 4f75d1 states of Tb3+. The maximum intensity is situated at about 318 nm. This is at a much longer wavelength than those of other Tb3+ doped phosphors. This is explained by a large offset of the adiabatic potential curve of the 4f75d1 state.
