Abstract

The luminescent decay of the relaxed excitons localized at iodine dimers in NaCl : I and KCl : I has been investigated. Their temperature dependence is explained by the combination of spin-lattice relaxation processes in the triplet sublevels and thermal conversion to the singlet state. Selective population distribution in the triplet sublevels is suggested.
