Abstract
A plastic fiber surface was modified with luminescent polymer nanosheets. The nanosheets were constructed by the Langmuir-Blodgett technique. Luminescent p(DDA-Ru) monolayers were transferred onto a flexible PMMA optical fiber (0.98 mm core diameter) by the vertical dipping method. The luminescence intensity from the p(DDA-Ru) nanosheets.decreased by gold nanoparticles immobilized onto the fiber surface. Streptavidin - biotin specific reaction was chosen to examine the sensor ability of the plastic optical fiber based on energy transfer quenching between ruthenium complex and gold nanoparticle.
