Abstract

Magnetization and thermoelectric power (Seebeck coefficient) S of the magnetic shape memory compound Ni50Mn36Sn14 were measured in the temperature T range from 4.2 to 330 K under magnetic fields up to 17 T. In 50 K<T<270 K, S has a negative sign, indicating that electron-type carriers dominate in this compound. The anomaly of the S-T curve closely relates to the magnetic and structural phase transition and the negative S value is enhanced by a magnetic field.
