Abstract
The magnetocrystalline anisotropy energy in the single crystal Fe19.3Ni54.2Ga26.5 β′ martensite phase was estimated to be 1.8 X 106 erg/cm3. In the single-variant state, the observed magnitude of the reversible MFIS is 0.02% at 5 K. With increasing temperature, the value of the magnetocrystalline anisotropy constant K is reduced, but the magnitude of MFIS slightly increases, and yet no MIFS is evident above 150 K.
