Abstract

Anisotropic magnetic properties of the cubic intermetallic compounds RCu4Ag(R=Gd-Er) single crystals are studied in the temperature range between 4.2 and 300 K and in magnetic field up to 50 kOe. The magnetization with Gd and Tb are found to order antiferromagnetically and with Dy, Ho and Er exhibit ferromagnetic behavior. It was found that the magnetic easy axes of ferromagnetic compounds DyCu4Ag, HoCu4Ag and ErCu4Ag are the [1 0 0], [1 1 0] and [1 1 1] directions, respectively.
