Abstract

The reduced transition probability of the E2(5/2+ → 1/2 +) transition in Λ7Li was obtained by measuring the lifetime of the 5/2+ state using the Doppler shift attenuation method. The obtained result is about one-third of the B(E2) of the corresponding E2(3+ → 1+) transition in 6Li, and is evidence for the shrinkage of the 6Li core in the Λ7Li hypernucleus.
