Abstract

Total column amounts and vertical profiles of O 3 and N 2 O have been observed with a tunable diode laser heterodyne spectrometer at Poker Flat, Alaska (65°N, 147°W) from February 17 to March 10, 1997 and from April 1 to May 8, 1997. Poker Flat was usually located outside the polar vortex during these early to late periods, but sometimes located inside the vortex as in the cases of March 10 and April 17. The correlation plots between O 3 and N 2 O show that O 3 amount in the lower stratosphere was chemically depleted inside the polar vortex.
