Abstract
The agitation of the bath resulting from combined blowing increases the yield of metal with a suitable manganese content, approaching equilibrium with the slag. Reduction in the height of the top-blowing lance increases the residual content of manganese, but its reduction from the slag occurs during the period of intensive carbon elimination. The bottom-blast consumption in combination with the height of the top lance is the most effective factor in controlling oxidizing processes.
