Magnetic properties and martensitic transformation response of the Ni 43Co 7Mn 39Sn 11 metamagnetic shape memory alloy compacts fabricated by pressureless sintering were investigated. The porous specimens sintered at 1173K for 48 h show drastic change of electrical resistivity and magnetization due to martensitic transformation, and the features of magnetic-field-induced martensitic transformation behavior are almost the same as those in bulk specimens. In the porous specimens, the large metamagnetic shape recovery ratio over 40% was observed at 320K with the application of 8 T magnetic field.
