Abstract
Micro-phase separated polymer materials draw much attention as one of the promising nanostructures, because periodicity of phase-separated structure has not been achieved readily by conventional lithographical techniques. In this study, new amphiphilic diblock copolymers consisting of hydrophilic poly(ethyleneoxide) and hydrophobic poly(methacrylate) bearing biphenyl moietyies as mesogen units were prepared by ATRP. Micro-phase separated structures of thin films formed by the diblock copolymers were investigated by TEM and AFM observations. The effect of exposure to electron beam on their phase-separated structure will be discussed.
