    Abstract

Nanopowder of a new tin(II) titanium(IV) oxide hydroxide fluoride, Sn 1.24Ti1.94O3.66(OH)1.50F 1.42. with the pyrochlore-type structure (cubic a = 10.3777(7) Å, space group Fd3̄m) was prepared at 180 °C and pH 2 by using a microwave assisted solvothermal reaction. The grain size of the nanopowder was 20-30 nm. It decomposed into a mixture of anatase-type and rutile-type Sn 0.39Ti0.61O2 at around 400 °C. A single phase of rutile-type Sn0.39Ti0.61O2 (tetragonal a = 4.6805(6), c = 3.0961(4) Å, space group PA2/ mnm) having a grain size of about 100 nm could be obtained by heating Sn 1.24Ti1.94O3.66(OH)1.50F 1.42 at 800 °C.
