Microwave-solvothermal synthesis and characterization of TIN(II) doped barium titanate

Abstract

Nanoparticles of barium titanate doped with different amounts of Sn(II) were prepared by using a microwave assisted solvothermal reaction. The samples were characterized by using TG-DTA, XRD and TEM. The perovskite phase was obtained for the samples of Ba1-xSnxTiO3 (X<0.2). The mass loss increased with increasing the amount of doped tin in TG curves which indicated the increase in the amount of OH group incorporated in the lattice. The obtained powders had a BET specific surface area of 35.1, 69.4 and 86.3 m2/g for BaTiO3, Ba0.9Sn 0.1TiO3 and Ba0.8Sn0.2TiO 3, respectively.
