Abstract
Cancers that develop in the gastrointestinal tract are very commoa In Japan, gastric cancer is the most common cancer and colorectal cancer is the second most commoa Lung metastases that originate in the gastrointestinal tract are frequently observed. Many molecular targeted agents have been rapidly developed for the treatment of a variety of cancer types, including breast and lung cancers. Several new agents are also available for gastrointestinal malignancies. In this article, we provide an overview of the molecular targeted treatment options for gastric and colorectal cancers, which are very commoa as well as for gastrointestinal stromal tumors, which have distinct characteristic molecular features.
