Abstract

A new beam line that can accomplish both lateral and angular dispersion matching with the Grand Raiden spectrometer was designed and constructed at RCNP. A resolution of about 30 keV and a scattering-angle resolution of about 5 mrad were achieved in the (3He,t) reaction at T3He = 420 MeV (140 MeV/A) and angles of 0°-3°. This high-resolution and good angle-resolution reaction enables us to study nuclear structure and fine structure of giant resonances with unprecedented precision.
