Abstract

We report 23Na and 19F nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements of NaCF3SO3 complexed poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) in the temperature range 273-353 K. Evidence for the existence of different environments of the cations is demonstrated by the observation of two 23Na components with very different spin-lattice relaxation times. A comparison with recent Raman scattering results of this system suggests that dissociated ions and ion pairs are the predominant ionic species. The NMR measurements indicate that ion pairs exist on times longer than ≈10-4s at 273 K.
