N2 - This study proposes a noise-reduction method that utilizes a plane microphone array when the target and the noise sources are in a 2-{\pi} (sr) space. Outputs from the microphones are regarded as a 3-dimensional (3D) image, and its spectrum is obtained by the 3D fast Fourier transform. Based on the feature that the spatial spectrum of a target signal concentrates on the direct current (DC) component, we can estimate the noise amplitude. By subtracting it from the observed DC amplitude, we can reduce the noise. The results of a computational experiment performed in this study indicate that the proposed method achieved a noise reduction of approximately 20 dB, which is 15 dB larger than that achieved by a conventional delay and sum beamformer.
