Nondestructive measurement of mode couplings along a multi-core fiber using a multi-channel OTDR

Abstract

A new method for measuring mode-couplings along a multi-core fiber (MCF) is proposed that uses a multi-channel OTDR technique. Using a synchronous seven-channel OTDR, we have successfully measured the mode-couplings along a 2.9 km-long MCF.
