Abstract

The creep deformation and cracking is one of the typical damage form which can take place in components operated at high temperature. Therefore, quantitative damage evaluation is a critical process for expected plant life extension. The creep damage of the heat resistant steel can be classified into two categories which are the morphological damage and the geometrical damage. Detection of these creep damage can be made by use of the change in electrochemical properties in a proper electrolyte before and after creep. The electrode impedance method is one of the electro-chemical methods suitable to evaluate and to analyze these characteristic changes caused by creep of metal/solution interface.
