Abstract

A partially-corrugated waveguide laser diode for subcarrier multiplexing applications is described. The laser diode is provided with a corrugated waveguide region from the antireflection coated front facet and an uncorrugated waveguide region toward the high-reflectivity coated rear facet along the diode cavity. Its low-distortion characteristics have been evaluated through experimental and theoretical procedures.
