Abstract

Photoacoustic (PA) imaging is a non-invasive diagnostic approach using PA effect. This study is performed to develop OR-PAM system and to image the sample of arteriosclerosis of the rat by using developed OR-PAM system and investigated the usability of PA imaging in histopathologic examination. As a result, red blood cells which caused the thrombus existed in the atheroma in the sample. In the present study, we developed OR-PAM system and visualized the atheroma with thrombus in the sample of arteriosclerosis of the rat by using developed OR-PAM system. Thus, PA imaging using OR-PAM has usability for histopathologic examination of arteriosclerosis.
